All Door thresholds bars and plates should be fitted in a way that they are directly underneath the door when it is closed.  It is a common error to fit them too far into a room, or not enough.  Think of it as a divider of areas, you wouldn't want to see the bedroom carpet coming through into the hallway when the door is closed would you?
